I can’t believe how fast the summer flew by. We have just one month left until back to school, back to more layers and shorter days, but luckily a lot of the pieces I’ve been obsessed with this summer can be transitioned into the colder months as well. I get a lot of good feedback on how I dress, especially on the outfits I actually post in full on Instagram. Not surprisingly, those outfits consist of pieces and combinations that I end up wearing over and over again, and as a result I actually run low on opportunities to post #ootd shots. Being the opportunist that I am, I decided to showcase those favourite pieces here, on The Lifestyle Bistro, every now and then and talk about where to find them or similar pieces.
Miu Miu Ballerina Flats
This is a pair of shoes I’ve had my eyes on for about a year until I finally made the move and bought them. I love how the shoes come with interchangeable/removable wrap-around ribbons, and I have so many options of how to wear them. My favourite has to be the advertised way of wearing them mismatched, but I do love the simplicity of leaving the ribbons behind and just rocking the nude and black leather. In addition to the Miu Miu website, these shoes can be found in store at Holt Renfrew, Nordstrom, and Saks. If you’re not about the luxury goods price tag, Zara and a few other fast fashion stores have come up with knock-off versions of this shoe as well.
Club Monaco Throwback T-Shirt
There was so much hype over this collection dropping, to the point that the flagship location at Bloor St. sold out completely within 20 minutes. I happened to be shopping at Yorkdale Mall at the time of the release, and waltzed into the store without a line and was able to pick up this t-shirt as well as a sweater. I love how easy a vintage style white t-shirt is for styling. Though it’s only available in a men’s XL in white, the grey version is available in any size, and black in men’s L, there are similar styles you can catch at That Vintage Place, Wildfox, and H&M.
Paige Denim Light Wash Cropped Jeans
Let’s be real, these jeans are an all-year round favourite for me. Whether I’m tucking them into my thigh-high boots in the winter, or pairing them with my favourite flats, heels, or sandals in the warmer months, I am obsessed with how comfortable and versatile they are. The light-wash differentiates them from the average blue jeans, and doesn’t attract too much heat in the summer months. Similar: here.
Babaton Galen Camisole
To be fair, this has been a closet favourite of mine since I bought it in August 2016, but it definitely deserves mention. I love that I can throw on this camisole from Aritzia with just about anything, and better yet, it looks best when worn with a bralette underneath instead of a regular padded bra. It’s a win-win in both style and comfort. The colour I got ends up going with anything and everything, and unlike white, doesn’t show dirt and stains as quickly.
Espadrilles – Michael Kors & Kenzo
After the wardrobe success of my Michael Kors espadrilles that I snatched on sale in April (similar: here), I took advantage of my employee discount at Holt Renfrew (no longer an employee) and got a pair of Kenzo espadrilles to add to my collection. I never understood it until I tried it, but espadrilles are literally the perfect summer shoe for everyday. No pedicure? No problem – these canvas bad boys will keep your ugly toes covered up, but won’t let your feet boil to death. You can get the Kenzo pair in different colours on their website, at Nordstrom, at Saks, or in-store at Holt Renfrew. Basically, they are super accessible.
So there you have it folks, the items that you’ll only see once, maybe twice, in an #ootd Instagram post, but in reality I wear at least a few times a week. This is a new type of blog post here on The Lifestyle Bistro, so throw me a line below letting me know what you think! (And if you like it, make sure to subscribe as well)
I’ll be conquering my fears of being on video and going into further detail on how to style these items sometime soon on my (NEW!) YouTube channel, so make sure to subscribe to stay posted.
