Vacation-Ready with Paige Denim

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you may have noticed that as soon as exams ended I took off for Dominican Republic to spend a week taking in the sun on the shore of Bavaro Beach. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to collaborate with Paige Denim, and get to take some new pieces of high-quality denim on my trip. Continue reading Vacation-Ready with Paige Denim

Taking Fashion Week Style to the Street

I wrote previously about how sometimes the “personal style” showcased at fashion week, be it Milan, Paris, New York, or Toronto, can sometimes be a little bit over the top. You can read more about it here, but the gist of it is, I believe it’s important to stay true to who you are – and also somewhat maintain your dignity as a human being.

Funny enough, it seemed like the Toronto fashion industry got the memo about avoiding going over the top, and went completely under. There was not a single feathered boa to be seen. Men showed up in jeans, chelsea boots, and bomber jackets. The world of street style fashion was not present in Toronto. Continue reading Taking Fashion Week Style to the Street

Fashion Week life vs. real life

Probably one of the craziest weeks of the season (at least for me) is almost done, attempting to balance my part-time job, my studies (in the midst of midterms, yikes!), and representing The Lifestyle Bistro at Toronto Fashion Week.

I managed to do the near impossible, and convince my corporate boyfriend (who is FAR from the fashion industry) to attend a show with me on Day 1 of Toronto Fashion Week. The result? We survived! Continue reading Fashion Week life vs. real life

Pre-TFW: a look into the Toronto fashion scene

Up until I started my blog and started getting slightly more involved with the fashion industry, I didn’t know much about Canadian designers other than Pink Tartan, Mackage, and Rudsak.

With Toronto Fashion Week just a couple days away, it’s safe to say I am definitely more up to date. And quite frankly, if I plan to keep writing about fashion on The Lifestyle Bistro, it would be embarrassing not to know the designers who work a mere 20-minute drive away (I’m a suburban girl). Continue reading Pre-TFW: a look into the Toronto fashion scene

fashion, style, or none of the above

With several Fashion Weeks recently coming to an end (and others just getting started), there has been a lot of discussion regarding the fashionistas photographed more than the runway models: Street Style “models”. Several bloggers already brought up the topic of personal style and other thoughts along that line… So now, it’s my turn. Continue reading fashion, style, or none of the above

Toronto Fashion Week – wednesday’s details

Compared to Day 1, coming to David Pecaut Square on Wednesday was like a movie (well, almost). I got there a little bit early, and just got attacked by street style photographers. Granted, I did go a little more “full out” this time around, as Day 3 showcased some of the week’s biggest shows: Narces, Pink Tartan, and Mackage. Continue reading Toronto Fashion Week – wednesday’s details

Toronto Fashion Week – monday’s details

This is actually my first time attending any Fashion Week, though I have stalked numerous photos from events all across the globe. I already had a good sense of what to expect, how to dress for that “street style” thing, and what shows I would be most interested in. Continue reading Toronto Fashion Week – monday’s details
