I think at some point in their lives, all creatives, whether professionally or leisurely, hit a plateau. Whether you’re a professional artist who has no inspiration to draw, or someone who plays an instrument in their spare time, and you’ve lost the desire to learn and improve. It happens to everyone at some points in their lives, and it’s exactly what happened to me.
I love talking about clothes, products, life, travel, just about anything, which is why I started a blog in the first place. What happened between me starting my blog (The Lifestyle Bistro, then) in 2015 and early 2018 was I started doing it for the wrong reasons along the way. After getting spoiled with some free products, event invitations, and a couple paid partnerships, I lost the desire to post and write because I liked to write. After reading bloggers who do this for a living talk about how they don’t work for free, I too thought I should not be “working” for free.
Don’t get me wrong, I agree that bloggers shouldn’t be doing free work, especially those that do this for a living. But I remembered one very important thing – blogging was not my job. It was not my main source of income. It was not what I was getting an education for. I started a blog with the purpose to fulfill my enjoyment of writing, and to share what I could with the world, whether that was an audience of 400, 40, or 4. I have what I consider the liberty to blog without expecting a single dime to fall in my pocket from it – and that is the true freedom of a hobby.
I will never be Xenia Adonts or Leonie Hanne, and I am more than ok with that. I will be a woman with a degree in business management, a career in marketing, and my blog and social media presence are just a little piece of me I get to keep for fun.
I’m so excited to bring life back into this website with posts about my favourite topics and musings, and explore the side of YouTube videos where I can push myself further out of my comfort zone and create different type of content. Hopefully you, the reader, will stay along for the ride!
